My art centers around my close relationship with my family and friends, and how I view personal experiences and memories from when I was growing up. Specifically, the way I felt holding my brother for the first time is an example of the emotions and memories that I display through art. The idea that you need to bottle up your emotions and that everyone else is doing well and you’re struggling because you are weaker than others has inspired the subject of my work. Through the use of personal memories, I express the opposite of this conversation and shows that everyone is concealing inner emotions from the word. I connect with others on a deeper level because it is not easy to describe through words some of the emotions and challenges that we all face. The artwork that I make can be described as an abstract display of childhood memories that has defined me as the artist that I am today. The technique and materials that I use are weaving and fabrics that have been dyed to fit my design. In my art I play with a lot of varying color palettes that range from nudes to pastels. I use a lot of different and peculiar textures to add depth and variety.
